Valentine's Day with Your Furry Pal

Valentine's Day with Your Furry Pal

It's nearly Valentine's Day. Have you gotten your special someone a special treat? Nah... we're not talking roses or chocolate here... we're talking dog treats and squeaky toys. Or better yet, how about taking your furry Valentine for a fun filled day to make sure they know how much you love them! Here are some awesome ideas for you and puppers... or maybe even that frisky feline!

Hang Out at a Dog Bar

A cool new trend for pet parents is eateries that cater to you AND your furry pal. Many of these spots are more than mere watering holes or grub hubs. There are places that actually cater to dogs too, such as Bar K Dog Bar in Kansas City, Missouri, and The Dog Bar in Charlotte, North Carolina. Head on over to Bring Fido and type in your city to see where you and doggo can hang out together.

Train for a 5K Together

Ever wanted to get in racing shape? Why not tackle it with your best furry pal? Not only will both of you be super healthy, but puppers will LOVE all that time with you. Some races you both should consider are Running with the Bears in Greenville, California or the Paws Fur Pink in Southern California. Check your local listings for a furry 5k run near you. Or how about entering the Green Mountain Iron Dog race, where you and doggo run a 1.5 mile obstacle course over a variety of terrain based on Police K9 training. Fun, right?

Visit an Epic Destination

When you are planning your next big vacation, be sure to keep puppers in mind. Grand Canyon? Back country hiking at Horseshoe Bend in Arizona? Exploring in Yosemite? River rafting with Shenandoah River Outfitters? You know that your furry pal would love nothing more than to be your "plus 1". So get out there and explore with puppers.

Play on a Dog Friendly Beach

What doggo doesn't love the freedom or running free on a beach and splashing around in the surf? We can't think of any either. There are plenty of dog friendly beaches on the coasts. A few that welcome dogs are 8th Avenue Dog Beach in Asbury, New Jersey, Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Fiesta Island Park in San Diego, California.

Get Pampered at a Resort!

For everything from special dog treats, to pet walkers to actually learning to surf with your furry pal, some resorts go above and beyond to pamper you AND your pet. A few of our favorites are Inn By The Sea in Potland, Maine, or Eden Roc in Miami Beach, The Resort at Paws Up, or Lowes Coronado Bay in San Diego. If you want more choices, you can find lists at Trips to Discover and Travel Channel.

Of course, Valentine's Day is not the only day you can do awesome things with your pets. Check out Bring Fido and Dog Trekker for all sorts of ways you and puppers can have a great time every day. Happy Valentine's Day from our pack to yours.
